thank you

So sigh...wandered down to the Healesville Market on Sunday and had a lovely time. I am always so pleasantly surprised by the kindness of the stall holders and the sweetness of the customers. So many lovely people came by to say hi and purchase some treasures for themselves. It was a really lovely day. Thank you to all of those who dropped in, I love having little chats with you and love hearing what amazing projects you also have on the go. Hope to see you next month. x

i heart...umbrellas and books

Study is taking up so much of my time of late that I am spending more time looking at the covers of books I want to read, rather than reading them. The Folio Society is just perfect for that. Beautifully designed and bound, these books are a treat to peruse from any angle.

I am loving these gorgeous new umbrella's from pare. Who says umbrella's have to plain old black? Why can't they be colourful and fun?

to market

sigh...is off to market!
We are heading out to the Healesville Market this Sunday (April 4th). So drop in and say Hi and, as it happens, Happy Easter.

mug

I have a new mug.

A new favourite mug to be precise.

You may think it is ugly.

You make think it is strange.

But I love it.

Why do I love it so?

Because it came all the way from my dear friend LadyJamie in the UK. She came good on her promise to get me my own Lady Di & Prince Charles Wedding commemoration mug. Oh what joy! My morning coffee is going to mean so much more and carry much more delight now that I have a Di & Charlie mug.

For more amazing LadyJamie treasures, check out LadyJamie Vintage online store, so many gorgeous vintage treasures!

blog love

I have to admit that I have come a little obsessed with the Ruche site, there are so many lovely things and fun DIY's. Their clothes are quite reasonably priced (until you add shipping to Oz! - as is the norm) and my 'wish list' is gaining items at an extraordinary rate! (including this top and bag!)

I am loving these new earrings and how gorgeous they are.
I am also loving autumn!

I love everything about these photos, they are just beautiful.
And not only are they beautiful, the lovely lady who took the photos also posted a DIY on how to make the paper flowers and the 'vintage pages wallpaper'. Divine.

autumn collection

I love cold, clear, bright blue mornings, the beautiful oranges and reds of the leaves turning and cups of tea in the afternoon in the yellow setting sun. And that’s what the sigh...Autumn Collection is all about – gorgeous greens, clear blues, deep reds and sparkling yellows. There will be new and sparkling additions over the next few weeks - come and have a look!

book happy

Today is a happy book day...for a few reasons.

Firstly, Popular Penguins have just realised their 75 new titles. The list is certainly different to what I thought it was going to be. I imagined it would be heavy on the Australian authors and that there would be a few more of the 'traditional' classics (Austen, Steinbeck, Camus). Instead we have Marx, 'The Communist Manifesto', Dante, 'Inferno' and much to my absolute delight, Dostoyevsky, 'Notes from Underground'.
I am involved in a lovely little Book Club which uses the Popular Penguin's as the reading list, so there was much excitement around the releasing of this list and much discussion already about which will make our short list. Fun times await our little book club!

Secondly, Alberto Moravia. I will admit that I don't know much about this guy, apart from him being Italian (what else is there to know?) and that my Italian teach highly recommended him. I have checked out a few of his titles and I am keen to delve in. I love discovering new authors and the Book Depository carry a few of Moravia's, so I think that will be my next purchase. Which leads me straight to...

...thirdly, The Book Depository. If you haven't discovered this little gem...do it now! It's basically an Amazon rival, but I have found it to be distinctly cheaper and it is free delivery!! Our most recent choice for book club is 'Madame Bovary' by Gustave Flaubert, and I was able to get a copy sent to my door for $3.80. Not all the books are so cheap, but many do seem cheaper than Amazon or our local chain bookstore, and free shipping thrown in - it's not a bad deal. Check it out!

library books

"I'm of a fearsome mind to throw my arms around every living librarian who crosses my path, on behalf of the souls they never knew they saved."
Barbara Kingsolver
American writer and activist

One of my most clearest memories of childhood is books. My mum was always reading something and we regularly went to the local library to stock up on goodies. Consequently these days, I am a big reader. I'll read almost anything (ok, that's not true - sci-fi and crime novels don't make my reading list very often!), and I read a lot. So thanks to my friend over at All Said And Done for this photo, it made me squeal with delight.

blue rose

Let's carry on as we started...with the things that I love! And at the top of that list (currently!) is blue roses. Beatuiful and ominous, a little bit mysterious and a whole lot lovely. I adore them.

a blog?

And so we begin a new venture/adventure!

I'm not sure where all this is leading (sigh and the blog!) but so far I am enjoying the journey and the newness of it all. It is exciting to be doing something that I love and that brings other people a little bit of joy too.

sigh...was birthed out of a love of these sweet earrings that I adore and love wearing - is there really any other way to begin something new? For the love of it?

So we'll see what happens! Be prepared for glimpse's of the beauty that has found its way into my world, stories of little girls and tea parties, favourite books and the excitement of new vintage discoveries.
